Day 4: The Beach
My husband and I have always enjoyed going to the beach together. When we first started dating, we would often spend evenings having picnics at the beach. When the weather turned cooler, we would continue to frequent the beach, walking the shoreline and enjoying the breeze off the ocean.
When winter rolled around, we found ourselves back there again. Bundled up, sitting on a log, discussing the future. In fact, he even proposed to me at the beach, despite it being the middle of winter and freezing cold outside.
The beach, and being near the water, holds a special place in my heart and I am grateful for all the memories we have created around it so far and all the ones still to be made.
Now that we have a child, the beach is a favourite family activity. From the time he was tiny, we would pack up the essentials, grab a big blanket and head to the beach with my son to just sit and relax by the ocean.
Now a toddler, my son loves any chance he gets to dig in the sand, dip his toes in the ocean or explore tidal pools. Sitting and relaxing by the ocean is now not just a favourite pre-child memory my husband and I share, it is quickly becoming a favourite childhood memory for my son too.
What are you grateful for today?
